Exhausted Elders

Alô mọi người, This week has been pretty uneventful - but exhausting. Regardless, it has been very productive and fun! Elder Mai and I have been working hard and staying busy making lots of videos... haha. I'm certain some of you have seen a couple of them.  Last Preparation Day: Our district went to the mall to get some food and played pool. Then Elder Mai and I had to go run lots of errands - it wasn't a super restful P-Day. In fact, I think it was the most exhausting day of last week.  Random Stories and Experiences: This next section will just bit little bits and pieces of funny things that happened throughout the week. -Elder Mai and I moved a bathtub from the 3rd floor to the first floor of a member's home. I don't even know how they got it up the first time. It was an interesting experience. -Elder Mai and I taught a woman from Ghana Africa on Wednesday in English. Five min into the lesson Elder Mai completely fell asleep. Afterwards, he told me "teaching i...

Political Pottery

Alô mọi người, Thank you for all the wonderful birthday messages and wishes. I had a great birthday and look forward to the next while I am here! This week was busy with lessons, making new friends, and preparing trainings.  Last Preparation Day: Last preparation day was fun - we went to a big town called Bát Tràng which is an entire town dedicated to pottery. We walked around and learned all about the history of pottery and ceramics in Vietnam. I'm not a big pot head  haha  but it was interesting. I'm still trying to figure out how they decorate all the pottery after they shape it and fire it. I was feeling a bit down that day - but Heavenly Father helped me out. While we were sitting at lunch a couple from Europe sat down next to us. The woman was from France and the man was from Spain, but spoke perfect Italian. They were on a long trip here in Vietnam "enjoying the cheap food" and "touring around". They were really friendly, until I called the city ...

Bounced to Ba Đình

Alô mọi người!  Wishing everyone a happy week! I saw all the pictures of the Northern Lights - it looked amazing! I still have yet to see them despite my time in Minnesota. I'll get 'em next time!  I have continued my streak of not staying in an area longer than one transfer with the same companion. I have now served in 5 different areas throughout my mission which has been pretty fun - I've gotten to meet so many people and so many wonderful members. I'm sad to leave my last area Cầu Giấy, we were going to have a lot of baptisms. Not up to me though - I'm glad to have served!  This transfer I will be serving in the Ba Đình area as the new Social Media Leader of the mission, which is fun. I help organize referrals, make sure ads are running, call Salt Lake City to coordinate, and a lot of behind the scenes stuff. It is an interesting assignment. The previous SML did an amazing job and completely built the framework for the social media work - so I'm just keepi...

1068 Steps Up, 1068 Steps Down

Xin chào mọi người, Happy May! Seems like everyone is having a good start to their summer breaks. Congratulations to the many friends who recently graduated and are starting their new chapter in life!  This week was good. We had a lot of fun adventures and spiritual experiences. Last Preparation Day: Last P-Day was great! We went to the Ba Đình area and did a hike. It was 1068 steps up a staircase to see an awesome statue on the way to the top. There was also a massive Buddist temple halfway up the hike which was beautiful. The scenery was very neat - I'll attach some photos of it below, but my Google Photos will have more! We were absolutely drenched with sweat by the end. The Language Arsenal: Wednesday and Thursday Elder Vassantachart and I went on exchanges with the AP's. While we were finding I got to use every single language I have studied to say hi to people! It was a very fun experience. I even got to invite a Chinese man to the English activity at the church. I was...
