Tongue Twisting Translating

It's Another Day of Sun

Hello everyone!  I hope you have had a wonderful June! This month has gone by pretty quick - we have been having success with our work and seeing our friends progressing. The last week felt a little long with the heat, but we keep biking! For the first time in my mission I will be staying in an area longer than a transfer! I will also be continuing with my same companion as before, Elder Mai, which will be fun. I get to stay in the apartment with the drying machine which is also a bonus. It should be another great transfer!  We had a baptism of a daughter and mother this week. It was the smoothest baptism I have had here in Vietnam. (Other than the fact we had to change the baptism to the following morning due to some miscommunication issues). The mother and daughter shared their wonderful testimonies about the Holy Ghost and how the Gospel changed their lives. Following church we had a small celebration.  Today for our Preparation Day we walked around the Old Quar...

🎶 Should I Stay or Should I Go?🎶

Alo mọi người, Hope you are having a wonderful week and a great month of June!  This week was pretty busy but not much happened - I was in some meetings with SLC and getting social media things ready for our new Mission President. We have transfers coming up this week (this is when missionaries can change to different areas/get new companions), so it will be interesting to see what happens. I am 97% certain I will be staying here in Ba Đình. If I do, it will be the first time on my mission in 9 months that I stay somewhere! Kinda exciting, but I'm also a little nervous - I have always moved, so it would be strange not to!  This week we had our District Conference which was super fun. I got to see members from my previous area in Cầu Giấy and old friends I taught that got baptized after I moved! It was so special to see them again. The new members already have callings and are doing such a fantastic job.  Mercy Through the Atonement of Jesus Christ As I mentioned last week...

"Do you want to bike upstream, or downstream?"

Dạ cháu alô các bác các cô chú và các anh chị em ạ.  It has been another great week here in Vietnam. We are seeing a lot of progress with our friends and are meeting really great people! Thank you for all your prayers and support, I know they really do help.  Shall we begin?  Previous Preparation Day: Our district met together and went to the Old Quarter district here in Hanoi. I thought it was going to be full of ancient buildings, lots of history, and other cultural landmarks. It isn't - in fact, it is just a giant tourist trap full of shops and knock-offs. Don't get me wrong it was still super fun, I loved me some good knock-off Legos and sunglasses, I just had some different expectations. Combined with the 116 degree heat, we didn't last very long. We did go to a Michelin star restaurant for Bún Chả which was good. I took one of the best naps on my mission and recovered from getting sick.  Elder Kessler: As many of you are aware two missionaries in the North Dako...

Kit-Kats, KFC, Cat, and Chocolate Cake

Dạ alô ạ, There are only 3 tasty things in the title of this email. Take your guess! Happy June! I hope everyone is enjoying their current adventure, whatever it may be! We have had a pretty busy and good start to our month. Got a bunch of fun stories too-  so let's jump right into it.  Last Preparation Day: We had a really fun and laid back day. Elder Mai and I went to get some haircuts and then the district went thrifting. The Sisters in our district scouted out four thrift stores to go to. They were really fun! I didn't buy anything, but I did try on lots of sunglasses and hats. I have to admit, my favorite part of going to the stores was the 90's funk they were playing, or whatever random popular American song. One of the shops we went to was full of old military uniforms...? With patches and other military uniform stuff... yeah I don't know. It was interesting. We didn't stay very long, but I am pretty sure everything in there was made from China and not authe...
