Hôm nay Anh Cả Reynolds đã muốn chia sẻ bằng tiếng Việt cho vui và cho những người Việt Nam mà đọc những email của mình nhé! Anh Cả sẽ cố gắng viết tất cả những điều này mà không sử dụng bất kỳ từ điển nào ạ. Nếu Anh Cả không biết một từ vựng, Anh Cả sẽ viết bằng tiếng anh nhé!!
Tuần trước thực sự tốt. Chúng con đã đạt được nhiều thành công với các phần khác nhau trong công việc của mình. Chúng con đã nhận được rất nhiều người giới thiệu thiệu và cũng rất vui. Con đã phải tập nói chuyện trên điện thoại rất nhiều, điều này thật khó khăn. Nhưng Anh Cả đang trở nên tốt hơn!
Vào Chủ nhật, con có cơ hội phiên dịch cho một cặp vợ chồng chỉ nói tiếng trung thôi. Họ đến từ miền Nam Trung Quốc và mới xuất hiện trong nhà thờ. Đầu óc con như muốn nổ tung khi dịch từ tiếng Trung sang tiếng Việt. Tiếng Trung của con đang dần trở nên tệ hơn. Tuy nhiên, con biết nếu bây giờ con tập trung vào tiếng Việt, Cha Thiên Thượng sẽ giúp con khi con trở về và tiếp tục học Tiếng Trung. Con cũng đã giúp phiên dịch cho một nhóm du khách Trung Quốc đang ăn ở KFC và gặp khó khăn trong việc thanh toán. Quả thật, Cha Thiên Thượng sẽ đặt chúng ta ở nơi Ngài cần.
Tuần trước con cũng đã gặp Chủ tịch phái bộ mới, Chủ tịch và Bà Howells. Họ siêu thân thiện và muốn học tiếng Việt. Anh Cả Reynolds rất là biết ơn cho sự hy sinh của họ để phục vụ tại Việt Nam cho 3 năm. Họ sẽ ban phước cho cuộc sống của mọi người và sẽ là những người lãnh đạo vĩ đại cho Phái bộ Hà Nội Việt Nam.
Vào Thứ 7 chúng còn cũng đã có một lễ báp têm của chị Thư!! Chúng còn rất là hào hứng cho chị ấy.

Today Elder Reynolds wanted to share in Vietnamese for fun and for the Vietnamese who read his emails! Elder will try to write all of this without using any dictionary. If Elder doesn't know a word, Elder will write in English!!
Last week was really good. We have had a lot of success with different parts of our work. We have received many referrals and are very happy. I had to practice talking on the phone a lot, which was difficult. But Big Brother is getting better!
On Sunday, I had the opportunity to translate for a couple who only spoke Chinese. They came from Southern China and had just appeared in the church. My mind feels like it's about to explode when translating from Vietnamese to Chinese. My Chinese is gradually getting worse. However, I know if I focus on Vietnamese now, Heavenly Father will help me when I return and continue studying Chinese. I also helped translate for a group of Chinese tourists who were eating at KFC and had difficulty paying. Truly, Heavenly Father will place us where He needs us.
Last week I also met the new Mission President and Sister Howell. They are super friendly and want to learn Vietnamese. Elder Reynolds is very grateful for their sacrifice to serve in Vietnam for 3 years. They will bless people's lives and will be great leaders for the Hanoi Vietnam Mission.
On Saturday we also had a baptism ceremony for Ms. Thu!! We are also very excited for her.

The Gift of Tongues
(Ironically written in English)
One of the questions I receive the most on my mission is "How is the language?" Vietnamese is certainly one of the most unique and hardest language I have ever learned. It is hard and honestly unrealistic to quantify or place yourself at a language level, not just for Vietnamese, but for any language. I know I'm not a linguistic expert and am still far from mastering any foreign language, but I have had some experience with learning languages. A variety of factors influence someone's ability to speak, understand, read and write. Some days are good, some days are bad. I have really come to appreciate the Gift of Tongues and have seen in the past few weeks.
When I mention the Gift of Tongues I am talking about the ability to speak in a foreign language with others. It has been used since the time of Paul, and was especially important for early church history while the church worked with Native Americans and the Hawaiians.
For me, the gift of tongues manifests itself very slowly and quietly. I certainly don't start spitting out beautiful ancient 李白 Chinese/Vietnamese poetry - rather, it is a somewhat bumpy and fun conversation, but at the end both people are communicating and understand each other. Words that I have worked hard to learn and study will come to my mind and let me use them. The gift of tongues requires patience and lots of work. It requires being comfortable with failure and being willing to learn.
So - How is the language? I'd say: I have sufficient for where I am now and am still growing everyday ;))
I hope you have an amazing week and a wonderful start to July. I will be missing the fireworks and fun times out in the desert in Utah.
