Southern Faces in The North

Alo, Wishing you all a happy Thanksgiving and some fun black Friday shopping. Nothing too crazy happened this week! There was a YSA conference here in the North, so I got to see some members I haven't seen for a long long time who came and visited our branch. They were surprised I could squeak out some Vietnamese, because the first time we met I certainly couldn't  - ha ha. Elder Teixeira also visited our mission this week and gave some really good insights on being more bold and prayerful as missionaries. He invited us to pray with and for our friends, and then ask about who else we could pray for them. It has really helped us have more personal lessons.  Today for our preparation day we went and did a hike which was refreshing. It is always nice to get out of the city and up in the mountains where the only honking you hear is the chirping of the birds.  Love you all, I am doing well!  Anh Cả Reynolds  Photos:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/ KXNEyuJ6epd...

Music and Milkshakes

Alo,  Currently writing this email drinking a milkshake and eating a burger to some 60s rock in a restaurant. Life is good. I hope you are all doing well! Honestly, nothing much has happened this week. The week was pretty normal, but I got a bad flu Thursday evening through Saturday morning which really wiped me out. Today I've just been resting and trying to get better. Although I don't have anything too exciting to report on, I thought I'd still send an email out and say hi!  Last Preparation Day our district went to a big palace in Hanoi. It is a big collection of hundreds of Vietnamese statues and full of old architecture. The gardens were really cool and reminded me of the "Borhgese" (Sorry I know I spelled that so bad Mom, my Italian is getting rusty...).  ( Borghese - he was close!) Check out Google Photos this week! There are a couple videos, too. Those are pretty much the highlights! Love, Elder Reynolds  Photos:  https://photos.app.goo.gl/ KXNEy...

Nhập Gia Tùy Tục - (When in Rome, do as the Romans do)

Alo- Wishing everyone a wonderful November. I hope you are enjoying pumpkin spice everything and the cooler weather.  Surprise: It is still hot in Vietnam.  I hope those of you in the Provo area had some fun celebrating the BYU victory and are having success in your fall term. Good luck on your midterms and whatever projects you have coming up.  Although I am not on the educational grind studying and working hard, we have certainly been on a grind here in Vietnam finding people to talk to. We have been visiting all of the college areas trying to find people who would be interested in coming to the church and learning more. The branch I am in currently is in need of some Young Adults to come help liven the branch a little and get some activities going. In the past it used to be huge, but it isn't really around anymore. We have ping pong, tons of tables and games, a karaoke setup -  everything you need for some good wholesome recreational activities - but now we...

Who you gonna call...?

"Ghostbusters!" yelled the group of students at our Halloween English Activity. That might be one of the funniest things we've done so far, aside from making people bake imaginary cakes. Alo, Happy Halloween and Merry Christmas for those of you that start celebrating in November. I have opinions for those of you that make that decision, but I'm a missionary right now so I can't express that too much other than saying: That is a poor use of your agency. Haha. This week nothing extraordinary really happened. We had a typical week of doing missionary work.  The Asia Area President came and did a mission tour, highlighting the importance of our personal studies as missionaries. He pointed out that just as much as we study for ourselves to be prepared to teach, we should also study for our friends to be prepared to help them. He also talked about learning the language and using the Book of Mormon/Spirit in our teachings. It was interesting and he had some good insights...
