Hi everyone!
Hope you have been having a great week. Things have been pretty normal here at the MTC. Lots of studying and
district/group activities. It has been fun to be district leader, I really love
the group I have. We have a fun dynamic and have great unity. To help with our
sanity, I got a deck of Uno cards. Unfortunately, card games are not allowed at
the MTC. Therefore, I designated Uno as a "group language learning activity" for
us to practice colors and numbers. The only rule is we have to say the number
and color of the card that is played. Other than that, it is regular Uno. The
Elders in the room below have come up with a new type of game in their room. I
don't know all the rules, but it involves kicking a hacky sack above some soda
cans, without knocking them over, but then landing it in a Pringles Can. If you
knock the cans over you lose points. I will attach a photo of it below, maybe
I'll try to get a video of it sometime. It gets pretty intense. People get very
creative when they get bored.
I have come to appreciate the time we have to exercise and do field time. It is a great way to destress and have fun with the
district. I'm not too shabby at volleyball. Today we will be meeting with the
Chairman of Religious Affairs of Vietnam. He will be visiting during one of our
language classes, and we will briefly introduce ourselves. With only having one
day of language immersion under our belt, (We started on Friday, didn't have any
this weekend due to General Conference) I'm pretty sure we are going to nail it.
I will give an update on Vietnamese next week, because I can't judge how it is
going with only one class so far. We are joking if we mess up, he is going to
deny our visas. (Ha ha ha... he really could though). We have been practicing
introducing ourselves as "volunteers" and not as "missionaries". I hope we can
be good examples/representatives. The church can do a lot of good for the people
in Vietnam, even aside from the spiritual aspects.
Thank you all for your kind
messages and emails. I can email back and forth anytime on Mondays, so always
feel free to reach out. I love hearing from friends and family.
