Alo -
You learn a lot of different skills and talents on your mission. Who knew that increasing your typing "Word-Per-Minute" speed would be one of them? I think I can confidently say after this week, following preparing many agendas and slideshows, my type-speed has increased. Jokes aside - It has been a wonderful week welcoming the new transfer, new missionaries, and watching General Conference with many friends. It has been a successful, busy week.
Elder Trường and I also realized we are both on each others email list, so we are basically going to be writing the same thing, so if you're subscribed to both of us you are in for a treat. Now we can passive aggressively talk about each other.
Monday, which feels like ages ago, had the departure of my previous companion Elder Esplin. He did a wonderful job leading the mission and being a good example to me. I truly enjoyed the time I spent with him and learned a lot. New missionaries wouldn't arrive until Thursday night, resulting in some temporary assignments, meaning we got to have a special P-Day with the STLs and an extra Elder joining our district for the day. We had some fried phở and explored the Imperial Citadel in the center of Hanoi. We enjoyed walking the grounds in the cool weather and taking pictures. We ended the day with some milkshakes at a burger joint down the street.
Tuesday was the day of transfers, meaning when all of the missionaries change areas. We were in charge of the travel logistics, so if anything went wrong, it was our fault. Surprisingly, everything went really smoothly and only had 1 delayed flight for 30min. Wednesday was a relatively normal day, rather than teaching we were training ourselves on the training and devotionals we would be leading in the following days.

Thursday Elder Trường and I assisted with picking up the new missionaries. We received 3 Sister Missionaries from the United States and 2 Elders from Vietnam. It was exciting to pick them up from the airport and a good memory / reminder of how I felt about 15 months ago! Friday we went to the rice fields, did orientation, and sent the new missionaries on their way. They are going to do a fantastic job!
Saturday and Sunday we had our rebroadcast of General Conference in Vietnamese. After a busy week it was refreshing to be able to sit down and just... listen. I really enjoyed the talks and had a good laugh at the conference attendees gasping at the announcement of the Spanish Fork temple. Our friends and members always find the Tabernacle Choir impressive and occasionally clap after they sing.
Spiritual Thought:
I really enjoyed President Nelson's sharing on "Charity" and "Virtue". Specifically, I really liked the connection of Spiritual confidence being found through virtue. As missionaries we study Christ-like attributes, virtue is one of them. I always felt like virtue is overlooked, so I did a deep dive on it for 2 transfers while I was back in Cầu Giấy over a year ago, and a little bit while I was in Hà Đông. The promised blessings of being virtuous is extremely valuable. Definitely read the footnotes of President Nelson talk, he has lots of good scriptures and resources attached.
We have some friends progressing in the gospel. We hope to see them choose and commit to a baptismal date. We will see what happens.
Happy day! all is well in Vietnam,
